Minimum Skills and Knowledge required. National Diploma in Food Technology or Biological science. Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans. Conduct staff training on Food Safety Standard and Quality related policies and procedures and HACCP. Carries out duties/procedures that are detailed in our Quality Manual, Operations Manual and HACCP study. Drives all Technical operations for the plant and daily overseeing of the technical department. Suggests methods for improving product quality or design, or manufacturing processes. Prepare for external audits and lead the audits on the day. Feedback on audits to Operations and technical team.
Manage the clearing of the external audit findings. Training of QC staff on food safety and quality procedures. Problem solving on quality and food safety issues. Trialing of new procedures and chemicals to improve the product quality and safety. Assists with launches of new products. Maintaining and improving on the supplier quality assurance program. Liaise with suppliers on quality issues.
Interact with service providers. Liaise with customer where needed. Drives QUALITY ethos through business. Attend monthly meeting with QC’s. Relaying relevant information to QC’s on a daily basis. Development of documentation and the continual maintenance and upgrading of the documents. Compiles non-conformance reports and trending. Collate information necessary for the monthly customer reports. Investigation and feedback on customer complaints and collating information for trending. Monthly internal auditing for hygiene and general farm/factory practices including glass and hard plastic register. Sampling for micro, taking action for out of spec results, trending of results and forwarding to the customer as required.
