Admin and Bookkeeping Assistant, Claremont & Newlands, Southern Suburbs. Mature, trustworthy, meticulous & reliable person required for a new Middle Eastern deli opening in November.
This person will also be required to assist the Bookkeeper with various admin duties at another busy restaurant & able to fill in when she is on leave. Previous admin experience in a restaurant environment will be an advantage but not essential.
Requirements: Good organizational and time management skills. Friendly & enthusiastic. A flexible all-rounder. Strong admin & bookkeeping skills. Bookkeeping & payroll experience. Familiar with month-end stock take processes. Familiar with all SARS statutory returns & deadlines (VAT201 preparation & recons, EMP201 preparation, EMP501 biannual & annual submissions).
Familiar with all accounting year-end processes. Able to work independently as well as part of a team essential. Pastel Xpress & Pastel Payroll knowledge, basic Pilot knowledge a plus. MS Office knowledge especially Outlook & Excel. Drivers Licence essential, own reliable vehicle preferable.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Occasional opening & closing the deli & assistance with answering telephonic & email queries. Invoicing for functions. Petty cash – pay-outs, balancing, filing. Some checking in of supplier deliveries, following up on returns, credits etc. Occasional cashups & days ends. Daily reconciling of cashes. Month-end recon related to daily turnovers, banking & cash. Payroll preparation, ensuring staff clock-in, staff attendance, etc.
Assist with credit card transactions at busy times. Capturing invoices, credit notes etc on Pastel Xpress for accounting purposes. Weekly, monthly supplier payment preparation for bookkeeper. Ensuring all supplier invoices & credit notes have been received and reconciled to statements in preparation for payment processing. Processing of cash books on Pastel Xpress. Assist with various month-end and year end accounting procedures.
Preparation of info & recons required for VAT201, EMP201, EMP501 returns. Preparation of info required for Employment Equity and OID returns various ad hoc duties as & when required. Minimum Deli Hours Mon-Friday 9am – 6pm Saturdays 9am - 5pm Sundays & Public Holidays 9am – 1pm. Monday to Friday position but due to this being a new deli, there will be times you may have to work slightly longer hours as well as weekends. If you are a clock-watcher, this position is not for you. Salary R10 000 p/m.
