Industrial Welder (Maintenance Welder)

Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Welder Trade Certification, 2nd Period Apprentice
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Major Work Area: Maintenance/repair

Area of Specialization: Machinery or equipment repair
Welding Techniques: Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG)

Specific Skills: Interpret welding process specifications, Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal, Determine weldability of materials, Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding, Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment
Additional Skills: Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes, Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
