The company, part of a larger group with its head office in the United Kingdom, is an intermediary partner between the timber producing and timber consuming industry, covering their demand for top-quality hardwood at the best price. They currently sell hardwood employed in a wide range of uses in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Working directly with suppliers based mainly in Africa, they are able to offer hardwood at competitive prices.

Responsibility: Processing of accounting transactions. Processing standard and ad hoc monthly / annual journal entries. Converting various foreign currencies into USD for reporting purposes. Monthly Consolidated Management Accounts.

Reviewing the accounts for reasonability, and resolving queries: Amending monthly and annual notes to the Accounts. Group Consolidations at half year and final year ends. Audit preparation. Liaise with the auditors. Travel to regions on an ad hoc basis to assist local accounting staff. Assist CFO and Cost Accountant with ad hoc tasks / projects.

Requirements: B Com / B Compt + Honours Degree + completed SAICA articles. Newly qualified Chartered Accountant preferred. 1 to 2 years’  MAXIMUM post articles’ experience, in an auditing firm environment. Experience with Group Consolidated Accounts essential. Excellent IFRS knowledge essential. Experience with foreign exchange transactions. High level of computer literacy in reporting tools & MS Excel at an advanced level. Experience of SAGE X3 or similar ERP systems preferred. Willing and able to travel in Africa (Mozambique & Gabon), as well as in Europe.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently. Deadline driven. Comfortable coaching and supporting off site colleagues. Salary: R35-40000.
