Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Glass Manager, supervise the Glass department production in accordance with plant policies and procedures in compliance with health and safety policies. Ensure production safety, quality and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
    Supervises department production in accordance with plant policies and procedures and in compliance with health and safety policies
    Accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision.
    Ensures that machinery; equipment and work areas shall be properly maintained in safe working condition
    Ensures that all employees within department have been trained and are working in compliance with the Health and Safety policy.  Provides training for specialized jobs
    Supervises and manages department workers; scheduling, attendance, performance, labour forecasting, overtime, progressive discipline, etc.,
    Assist in the management of staffing for the department; hiring, lay-offs, recall and terminations
    Assist in generating plans production and scheduling in accordance to ensure daily production targets are met
    Ensures high quality production of departmental outputs
    Communicates production status and escalates issues to Plant Manager accordingly
    Manages the flow of departmental production to ensure the highest level of efficiency
    Assist in the development of shift schedules; rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime, back-up for absent employee, etc.,
    Communicates with other Departmental Supervisors and encourages interdepartmental communication and collaboration
    Demonstrates strong leadership skills, leads by example and is accountable for all areas of the department
    Ensures that protective equipment required by law and health and safety policies are used and maintained properly by employees and that employees understand the reason for its use.
    Ensures that all injuries are treated and reported in accordance to OHSA and company standards
    Investigates, reports and completes Supervisor’s Accident Investigation form for all accidents and takes corrective action.
    Oversees shift start up and inspects end of shift shut down and
    Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
    3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (glass manufacturing experience – specifically Glass would be considered an asset)
    High School Diploma
    Superior leadership skills with a hands on approach to management
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required
    Mechanical aptitude
