Located on the edge of Adelaide's CBD adjacent to the beautiful South Eastern Park Lands, St Andrew's is the largest independent private Hospital in Australia, with 30,000 procedures being performed each year. Our patients are admitted electively or via our Emergency Service, and we cater for most surgical specialties including (but not limited to) cardiothoracic, neuro, hepatobiliary, major bowel, urology, and major plastics.  In 2018, building on our successful base, we completed a $50 million upgrade and expansion of our clinical facilities, with more developments planned for 2019 and beyond.

St Andrew's Hospital Emergency Service provides emergency medical attention from 8.00am - 10.00pm, seven days a week.  The Service has been established to provide assessment of patients with acute medical and surgical conditions who: require emergency care; have a local doctor / specialist referral; or have been a recent inpatient and require review. The Service is staffed by a team of highly experienced Nursing and Medical professionals, along with health services support staff.

About The Role: We have a temporary opportunity for a self-motivated individual with appropriate and relevant experience to join our Emergency Services clerical team on a temporary basis. The successful applicant will work alongside Nursing staff and Medical Officers within our Emergency Services Department, providing customer service and administrative support, as part of broader clerical team.

This position is to backfill another employee who is currently on parental leave until the end of September 2020.  Employment beyond this date will therefore be subject to the return of the substantive employee and future Hospital requirements.

Hours: This is a temporary part-time role that will involve working eight day-shifts over a fortnightly roster. Shifts will be 7am - 3pm in a pattern of: Week 1 Monday to Friday, Week 2: Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Additional, ad hoc shifts may be available either within the Emergency Services Department or elsewhere across the Hospital, should the successful applicant wish to work on a full-time basis (upp to 76 hours per fortnight).

About You: Our ideal candidate will have previous clerical experience within a medical environment (preferably an Emergency Services Department or similar), along with strong customer service skills. A broad understanding of medical terminology gained through relevant experience and study would be highly advantageous in this position.

This role works within a team of Nurses and medical professionals, and is also part of the broader Patient Services Team.  However, the position is generally the sole clerical role within the Service at any point in time, therefore it is expected that candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independantly, exercising sound decision making, initiative and judgement skills, as well as the ability to identify the need for escalation of matters as required. Other essential position requirements include: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
