Job Description
Due to an upcoming retirement, Colonial Countertops is actively recruiting for a Plant Manager to be based out of its headquarters in Victoria, BC.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager is accountable for the planning, management, staffing, and coordination of all production activities within the facility. This is a leadership position where you will provide overall direction, but also get hands-on with the usage of machinery and introduction of new technology / process improvements within a fantastic working environment.
Major position accountabilities:
Provides expertise and authoritative knowledge in the day-to-day operations of the organization’s main production facility servicing residential and commercial surfacing solutions
Ensure each functional area delivers product compliant with client specifications and overall organizational quality standards
Improve current production processes and techniques, keeping an ear to the ground for industry-leading practices and implementing these where necessary to improve efficiencies
Manage state-of-the-art machinery, equipment, and maintenance needs for all five production facilities across BC
Be a true ambassador of the organization, attending industry events and trade shows to further your knowledge and increase industry branding
Manage a high-performing production team, including daily task management, scheduling, and ensuring the facility is optimally staffed and supplied at all times
Ensure adherence to safety standards at all times
Requirements:
At least 3-5 years’ experience leading a commercial industrial production facility. Extensive experience in the stone / surface fabrication industry is not mandatory, but will be considered as a definite asset
Working experience with millwork, ability to fabricate granite surfaces will be preferred
Good knowledge of computers and various software including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proprietary industry software (Slabsmith)
Solid organizational, analytical and project management skills
Enthusiasm and passion to take ownership and leadership of the facility
Able to work on multiple tasks concurrently and to effectively handle changing priorities
Great relationship building skills; ability to build rapport with all employees, contractors and suppliers Enthusiastic and self-motivated. Works well individually and in a team environment
Strong attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to quality and safety
Thrives in fast paced team environment
