Technical Production Manager, Location, Retreat, Southern Suburbs, Job Type Full-Time. Technical Production Manager required by Southern suburbs based engineering company.

Job Description: Technical Production Manager Reports to: Director Position summary: Production planning, managing 12- 45 production staff, liaising with sales, stores, QC and directors. Optimising production process, minimising downtime, supervising plant-housekeeping, regular in-process checking of parts in a jobbing-workshop environment as well as any other unmentioned relevant tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Planning, assigning and following work from job creation to QC Updating customers/ sales on work progress or delays when required. Planning work schedules to minimise down-time. Informing relevant persons timeously when short of work in any department. Managing production staff (leave, safety gear, issues, QC issues). Optimising production processes and efficiencies. Minimising scrap and downtime. Liaising with sales, stores, QC and directors. Ensuring that jobs are completed timeously. Managing strategic spares. Expediting urgent work

Training and assigning staff. Managing housekeeping, workshop and workshop safety. Executing in-process checks . Supervising maintenance. Managing customer queries. Woking extended hours as and when required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Use of measuring instruments to check quality. Must have good maths skills. Must be able to read and understand working drawings. Must have good health and be able to lift machine parts. Must have good eyesight and hearing. Must be well organised . Must have mechanical and electrical skills.

Education, Experience and Other Requirements: Minimum Matric or equivalent. Any relevant qualifications will be advantageous. MS word and excel literacy. CAD literacy advantageous. Minimum of 10 years relevant working experience. Own transport and drivers licence. Must be able and willing to work overtime.  Must be based near to Cape Town Southern-suburb area.
