Animal Attendant Cranbourne PT, Animal Attendant – Cranbourne Part-time. The role: The Lost Dogs’ Home has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Animal Attendant to join the passionate and dedicated team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of day-to-day care for the animals in our care. This varied role will include general handling and husbandry of our shelter dogs and cats, including cleaning and feeding, driving jobs, identifying and reporting on behavioural and medical issues, customer service, general cleaning including laundry and vehicles, maintaining records, maintaining food stock levels and ensuring open communication across all staff and departments on animals. We are looking for an individual who has proven experience in a similar position, with sound emotional maturity and ethics regarding animals and their welfare and can demonstrate initiative and motivation. The total number of contracted hours is 31.5 hours per fortnight, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday every week.
Key responsibilities include: general handling and husbandry of our shelter dogs including cleaning and feeding driving jobs including transporting animals between shelters and council pounds identifying and reporting animals that are ill or have behavioural issues working closely as a team assisting members of the public with lost and found enquiries liaising with the general public and council officers general cleaning and maintaining of the shelter including laundry and vehicles maintaining up to date records of all impounded animals maintaining food stock levels communicating with staff and departments on animals such as food types and exercise undertaking closing procedures as require
To be successful in this role, you will have: animal handling experience (essential) experience within the companion animal industry, preferably within a shelter environment (preferred) Certificate II in Animal Studies or higher (desirable) a current driver's license customer service experience sound emotional maturity and ethics regarding animals and their welfare the ability to display initiative and motivation capability and willingness to work in physically demanding role ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
