Maintenance Management Program. 5 years’ experience in a maintenance management function. TPM Implementation skills. Project Management Skills. High Level of computer literacy (MS Office). Proficient knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Key Performance Areas: Improve maintenance department performance. Press Tool Management, OEE, Unplanned downtime, Cost of maintenance.

Responsibilities: Initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the automotive industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance. Monitors the consumption of inventories, spare parts, supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering. Maintains maintenance workshop equipment. Manage and further develop the TPM System through establishing and maintaining a computerized maintenance. Management system (CMMS) for the tracking of work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment. Prepares reports, analyses data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Manage plant and tool maintenance personnel. Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

Maintains effective communication to ensure a focussed approach to all maintenance issues. Conducts employee performance reviews. Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department. Ensures that maintenance personnel are trained on the all applicable company procedures and maintain these procedures where applicable to Maintenance as a department. Constantly reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Initiates and carries out maintenance projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. Tracks, analyses and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, OEE etc. Ensure all site works are carried out in compliance with applicable legislation rules and regulations, including H & S (safe systems of work), environmental, waste handling. Local authority, utility company issues etc. Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance personnel.

Coordinates activities with Plant Operations Departments. Communicates directly with QA dept to ensure effective participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures.

Other Duties: Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions. Manage start up activities at the facility; therefore, participate in staffing effort, lead spare part procurement effort, lead maintenance training effort, identify/secure critical supply and service agreements, lead the maintenance group during checkout and commissioning of the facility, etc. Prepare “key performance indicators” (KPI’s) that show how well the assets are making their required contribution to the value-adding process. Salary: RR40,000 - R50,000
