Kamloops is a vibrant city, located in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, with an immediate population of approximately 86,000 and a medical catchment population of approximately 122,000.
Set on a vast and rugged landscape, with eight beautiful provincial parks, and more than 100 lakes it is an ideal setting for fishing, kayaking, rafting, hiking and camping. Award winning mountain biking is available at Sun Peaks Resort Bike Park and the Tobiano golf course is ranked as one of Canada’s best.
Winter brings the opportunity for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, and ice-skating, or just 45 minutes out of town Sun Peaks Four Season Resort offers the best skiing and snowboarding in the area.
Kamloops is the second largest municipality in the Thompson Okanagan region and all of the amenities of a modern metropolitan centre are readily available. A wide range of hotels, spas, restaurants, art galleries, and theatres are conveniently located in Kamloops downtown district.
Historically the major industries in Kamloops have been agriculture, forestry and mining, however moving forward agri-food production, high tech manufacturing, non-metallic mineral production and tourism are all playing an important role in the city’s economy.
Drive times to major centers are approximately one hour twenty minutes to Vernon and Armstrong (120 km), two hours to Kelowna (164 km) and three and a half hours to Vancouver (355 km).
Clinic Details:  Royal Inland Hospital
The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 215-bed facility that services a catchment population of approximately 215,000, located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 50,000 visits per year.
Kamloops offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services. Specialty services include Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, well developed Community Mental Health and Substance Use Services, (including Elderly Mental Health), and Tertiary Inpatient and Community Psychiatric Services. Support services include: a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and CT scan, Clinical Nutrition, and Lung Health. RIH also features TPA Stroke, Stroke Research, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six-person, 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Members of the Department of Anesthesia provide Anesthesia services to seven elective operating rooms, labor and delivery, a 24/7 emergency operating room and an additional, contracted, four hour evening emergency room.
Practice Details:  Royal Inland Hospital is seeking a full-time Emergency Physician to join a dynamic team of doctors providing urgent care services. 1 to 2 fulltime equivalent emergency physicians are required (full-time or half-time work available).

Qualifications:
•Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
•Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification (ATLS)
•Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
•Emergency experience
•FRCSC manadatory; CMPA mandatory.
Call Schedule:  Hours of work: Approx 12 shifts/month
On call requirements: 2 x 24hr trauma team leader shifts/month
Compensation:  Payment Structure:
•Service Contract
•TTL call and additional income from a clinical decision unit on fee for service plan
Estimated Gross Income:
•$291,918 plus TTL call.
Overhead:
•No overhead cost
•On an Alternative Payment Plan
RSA Incentives:
•Relocation assistance up to $10,000 or $15,000 maximum if move is international or over 3,000 km's
