Location, City Centre, Cape Town, Job Type Full-Time, We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our team at a new, upmarket, fine dining restaurant in Cape Town CBD. You work closely with the Head Chef to oversee staff, implement recipes, control quality and maintain the strict standards of food and hygiene. You will also facilitate costings, ordering and help with rostering.
The ideal applicant will have the following skills and qualifications: Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a fine dining kitchen. Extensive food & wine knowledge. Technique. Passion, drive, energy. Mentoring skills. Attention to detail. High standards. Ability to work under pressure. Problem solving skills. Strong verbal & written communication skills. Self motivated. Health & safety knowledge.
Bonus for (but not compulsory): Own transport & valid drivers license. A strong backround in classic French cookery. Culinary certification
And the most obvious; YOU MUST BE ABLE TO COOK. This is not a Sous Chef job where you will sit behind a desk all day/ night doing admin. You will be heavily involved in prep work/ service.
