Note: This is an HRSDC supported position. Applicants must be 30 years of age or under, currently attending school full-time and returning to school full-time in the fall.
Job Description:
The position will work closely on two different initiatives. They will help support a weekly community garden program as well as help maintain the garden. They will also help support research and programming in the area of environmental exposures to nail technicians.
Responsibilities:
    Support gardening and healthy nail salon worker programs (set up, planning, running activities, etc)
    Assist in developing garden activities
    Maintenance and care of community garden
    Outreach and administrative support for research project on environmental exposures and nail technicians
    Maintenance of the community kitchen including food purchasing and cooking
    Assist in other health promotion activities as required
Qualifications:
    Experience working in gardens (through paid employment or volunteer work)
    Excellent interpersonal skills
    Excellent qualitative research and writing skills
    Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills are an asset
    Experience working with people who are marginalized including people who are homeless, people who use substances, people with mental health issues, and new immigrants.
    Knowledge of community resources, harm reduction and additional languages are assets
    Knowledge of food handling is an asset
Salary: $16.00 an hour
Hours: 30 hours a week for July and August (total 7 weeks)
