Position: PRT Growing Services operates 12 forest nurseries in Canada and the US, producing over 180 million seedlings annually. In 2013 we celebrated our 25 th year of operations and the shipping of 3 billion seedlings. We have an opening for an ambitious, experienced individual to further build and develop PRT Bionera our bioremediation and woody crop business. This position will be located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the interior of BC and will service the Prairie Provinces, western Canada and the US. The Bionera General Manager will work with PRT’s senior management team and be responsible for providing customer specific woody crop solutions using short rotation coppice willow and poplar crops. You will be responsible for all aspects of the continued development of this business with emphasis on sales, marketing, and operations. We are currently mplementing large scale contracts, establishing and monitoring demonstration plots, and investigating leads on new opportunities. PRT Bionera’s business involves establishing elite varieties of willow and poplar as woody agricultural crops to act as bioremediation facilities for municipal governments while generating woody biomass for beneficial uses. You will be required to further develop and execute business strategies while meeting customers’ needs. Operational aspects will include the supervision of crop establishment with effective safety and risk management programs while preparing and managing an operational work plan and budget.
Qualifications: The successful individual will have strong interpersonal, team building, and organizational skills, supervisory or project management experience, and formal education in agriculture, horticulture, or forestry. Sales and marketing experience would be a definite asset as will the ability to develop and execute a business plan.
