Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Membership in the Professional Corporation for Estimators
Experience: 5 years or more
Type of Experience: Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural
Project Size Estimating Experience: 0 - $100,000
Business Equipment and Computer Applications: Spreadsheets, Databases, Estimating packages, Take-off packages, Scheduling packages
Specific Skills: Prepare estimates of labour and material costs, Prepare bill of material, Prepare master format estimates (Class A), Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D), Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers and contractors, Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads, Select sub-trades, Utilize quantity take-off procedures, Advise on tendering procedures, Analyze tenders and recommend awards, Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Operate CADD systems
