Quality Assurance Engineer

Supervisor: Quality Assurance Manager
Work-time: Full time permanent; 40 hours/week; normal office hours; some OT required
Travel Requirements: As required (5%)
Education/Certification:
Manufacturing QA, Operation Management or equivalent diploma
Job Function:
Maintain, update and administer Quality Systems as required to ensure appropriate quality levels of incoming, in-process and finished product. Archive manufacturing quality documents and records in a systematic manner. Support Operations and QA group in order to resolve material and manufacturing process non-conformances as well as determine root cause of quality concerns. Communicate with suppliers to deploy quality requirements and collect quality records.
Responsibilities include:
Generate and execute inspection plans/control plans for manufacturing materials and process
Maintain and administer non-conformance process
Work with Operations and Quality team to determine root cause and ensure corrective actions are completed
Work with suppliers as needed to resolve quality issues and collect quality records
Assist with new supplier qualifications in regards to evaluation of supplier quality systems and process control
Archive and ensure traceability of quality documentation (dimensional inspection reports, material certs etc)
Generate reports to monitor quality problems, trends and corrective actions
Inspection of manufacturing parts (raw materials) and finished product
Prepare and compile final product quality documents
Follow up quality documents with suppliers
Monitor nonconforming and suspected parts in the shop and work with quality group to make decision for them.
Compare organization quality requirements (e.g. dimension, material, NDE, etc. results) and technical standards with suppliers quality documents and determine the conformity level
Other Requirements:
3 to 5 years experience in quality assurance preferably within manufacturing organization
Appropriate technical knowledge to understand critical product requirements. (e.g dimension, GD&T, material, NDE, etc. results)
Ability to understand product technical standards such as API, ASTM, AGMA, etc.
Knowledge of the assembly process of precision gear/power transmission equipment an asset
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, 8D problem Solving and SPC an asset
Reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings including knowledge of GD&T
Ability to utilize MS office applications
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
