IT Support Technician - Montague Gardens, Location, Other, Cape Town, Job Purpose

The IT Service Desk is the central point of contact for all IT related incidents and service requests. The role of the IT Support Technician is to provide second line support for all staff and Kiosk’s at the Company. The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for resolving support requests as well as meeting customer satisfaction and continuous service delivery demands. IT Support staff work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment which provides services over the phone, through e-mail, phone, in person and self-service.

Education & Experience, Matric or NQF equivalent, Degree/ Diploma/ Certification in Information Technology or related studies, 1 – 2 years working experience in IT

Responsibilities: The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role include, but are not limited to: Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks. Guiding employee’s through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues. Troubleshooting system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults. Replacing hardware as required

Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system. Supporting the roll-out of new applications. Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues. Responding within agreed time limits to call-outs. Establishing a good working relationship with staff and external IT vendors. Testing and evaluating new technology. Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment. Managing Ticket system. Skills and Competencies. The abilities that the individual needs in order to perform this role effectively: A good knowledge of how software and operating systems work. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to deal with change and unambiguity. The ability to think logically. Dynamic, high energy levels and drive. Strong team player, but also have the ability to work independently. Work accurately, meticulous and high attention to detail. Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize, Goal and target driven, Effective listening skills, Good follow-up skills, Customer service orientated, Strong administration skills , Respect the importance of confidentiality, A strong customer focus, Additional Requirements, Flexible and able to work shifts, which may include night work, weekends and public holidays, Able to travel within division and other provinces, Driver’s License and own car
