Position Overview:  Ubuntu Education Fund Early Childhood program seeks to fill the position of Curriculum Coordinator.

The Curriculum Coordinator is primarily responsible for supervising the teaching staff in the planning, preparation, implementation, and reflection of weekly lesson plans as well as the overall curriculum in all ECD and JLP classes. The Ubuntu Early Childhood Program is deeply committed to a child-centered, play-based approach to learning, and so the ideal candidate will be intimately familiar with these philosophies of education.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Working with each teaching team in developing weekly lesson plans that meet the needs of their individual learners, using a child-centered, play-based approach to learning.

Facilitating conversation and brain-storming sessions among teaching teams to further develop their ability implement play-based education, critically analyze and reflect on their own teaching practice, and support one another in the process. Observe teaching staff in the classrooms to ensure that lesson plans are implemented appropriately and provide feedback on teaching practices.

Research and facilitate professional development opportunities according to the needs of the teaching staff. Reporting to ECD Manager on staff fulfillment of job descriptions and developmental progress

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Family & Consumer Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years teaching in the field. Knowledge and education regarding developmentally appropriate practices and play-based education. Excellent oral and written communication skills, competent interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate using technology, develop reports, and track data. Fluency in Xhosa is preferred.

Salary: Salary range from R230921 up to R348808 basic salary per annum depending on scope of competence and experience.
