Welding Fixture Tooling Designer, Location, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, Advertised By Private, Job Type Full-Time

Job Purpose: Apply sound 3D design and 2D detailing engineering principles in the development  and documentation of precision welding fixtures to be used in manufacturing exhaust pipes and catalytic converters

Duties and Responsibilities: Mechanical/Technical Skills: Interpretation of requirements and address design parameters and engineering problems to ensure solutions are implemented accurately. Analyse project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting the design. Develop welding fixture design solutions based on engineering principles. Detailing, drafting, laying out and specifying technical devices, parts and equipment. Conduct, interpret and confirm measurements & tolerances Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards. Knowledge of metals and materials used in production Knowledge of Catia / Mechanical Desktop Software Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D software. Software and Software Skills, Catia – Mechanical Desktop Software, 3D drawing and design

Planning: Identify the requirements to complete the job. Assess and Analyse project time. Prepare required material, parts and tools. Tooling Design Engineer Design and construct 3D welding fixtures with enhanced mobility, functionality and versatility. Develop and train on automotive welding processes including C0’2 , spot welding and materials handling. Hands on shop floor experience with input into fabrication and manufacture followed by fixture try-out Support the manufacturing process and work cell Simulation, validation and offline robot programming for welding/assembly process. Investigate off-the-shelf tooling solutions and evaluate appropriateness, including lead time and cost analysis. Support research and development projects with tool design and provide input on manufacturing tooling and equipment requirements. Construct tool user requirements based on safety and maintenance requirements. Policy and Procedures

Qualifications and Required Experience: Degree or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Approximately 2 year of practical experience 3D Design and Development   Welding fixture Design essential specific to exhaust pipe and catalytic converter manufacture and assembly.
