Due to strong growth JDSU is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Process Engineer for our Ottawa based team.

What will you do in this role?
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. The Process Engineer provides engineering process development support of Assembly and Test related to NPI and released to production products.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
    New Process Development for Die Attach, Wedge Bond and Chip Install;
    Process Monitoring and Maintenance for Die Attach, Wedge Bond and Chip Install for existing processes;
    Program development and revision in support of production processes on Die Bonders, Wedge Bonders and other equipment;
    Work with other process engineers to design, develop and qualify Manufacturing Work Instructions for automated insertion and wirebond equipment;
    Evaluate and improve on processes in A&T manufacturing systems;
    Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers;
    Integrate various processes and develop process flows for new product introductions;
    Improve various A&T processes for manufacturability and yield improvement;
    Acquire, customize and qualify new automated insertion/assembly process equipment;
    Sustain various processes with emphasis on statistical process control;
    Document process specifications and train production personnel when needed;
    Improve process capability and production yields while maintaining and improving quality standards;
    Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process;
    Ensure projects are completed on time;
    Designs and executes designs of experiments to improve quality, reduce process and product variation, identify and verify root cause with regard to problem solving;
    Review manufacturing methods, recommend changes and write Change Requests to reduce costs, improve productivity, correct discrepancies and conform to new or changed customer requirements;
    Investigate and approve or disapprove manufacturing processes or materials change requests;
    Provide technical and other engineering assistance in a constructive and timely fashion to the Bloomfield Operations group whenever needed, and also on a weekly basis in a proactive manner;
    Assist Bloomfield Quality Assurance department in determining acceptability of Bloomfield manufactured products, customer supplied or Bloomfield purchased operations, components and materials;
    Transfer of NPI processes to Asian contract manufacturer & second level production support for transferred products;
    Review and monitor appropriate reports daily for corrective action;
    Check and approve manufacturing drawings as required;
    Participate in the selection process of new plant equipment;
    Direct and train others as the need is seen and assigned;
    Prepare reports and perform special projects as assigned;
    Provide Operator Process Training as required;
    Create and Maintain Manufacturing Work Instructions for required processes.
What experience will allow you the greatest success in this role?
    BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or Equivalent;
    Minimum of 5 year’s directly related experience in a production environment;
Knowledge and experience with the following equipment and process development is desired:
    Optical Connector Installation and Inspection Process;
    Fiber Optic PM and SM Splicing Process;
    Familiar with various microscope technologies and able to make specific recommendation;
    Develop fixtures for fragile device handling;
    Develop Process and Tools for fragile component shipping and handling;
    Recommend Vision Inspection Systems and Develop Process for use;
    Create Manufacturing Work Instructions and Procedures;
    Responsible for Various Plating Processes;
    Janomie JR Series Robot Dispenser.
Frequent travel to Bloomfield CT for process development on NPI products in preparation for transfer
