Role: To provide technical expertise to the QA department in order to facilitate the testing of mobile applications/games.
Reports to: Mobile Test Manager.
The Position
Focusing on the latest Smartphones and Tablets, VMC’s Montreal mobile team has expanded rapidly over the past 3 years and now employs close to 100 people.
With over 50 clients and 400+ mobile projects delivered in 2013 the mobile team is searching for an experienced, dedicated, Mobile Handset Technician who will be responsible for providing technical support to the test teams as well as maintaining VMC’s device inventory.
Mobile testing projects involve a combination of localisation, Compatability and/or functionality/technical QA services across the iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry platforms.
We are looking for candidates with 2-3 years of experience within the Mobile industry who can demonstrate expertise across all major mobile device platforms.
Whilst the role is currently focused on support the mobile application test teams, future growth opportunities will be possible for the individual supporting VMC’s expanding Hardware/Software servcies.
Key Responsibilities
Providing support to testers regarding technical issues during testing.
Providing Sim Cards to Testers and tracking their usage
Perform or assist with research projects initiated by Mobile Test Managers.
Perform in-depth investigations on specific bugs upon request and provide clear guidance for Leads/Senior Leads regarding the issue.
Document and update mobile technical information on VMC’s Wiki.
Data Entry as required.
Maintain VMC’s client facing and internal device inventories
Configure handsets for specific projects, as required by the Test Manager/Lead or Senior Lead Tester
Flash and update handsets as requested
Examine new handsets and prepare them for testing.
Maintain existing handset stock. Repair handsets as required.
Conduct Application Testing as directed by VMC’s Test Manager
Manage and maintain all accounts used for testing
Manage device priorities and availabilities among teams
Track and monitor all purchases made
Required skills, knowledge and experience
Experience of working on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry Platforms
3+ Year’s mobile technical expertise preferably in a technical support role.
Must possess ‘can-do’ attitude
Ability to work effectively and decisively under pressure
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to analyse problems, recommend and implement effective solutions to Mobile technical issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Relevant experience of games or software localization and/or QA
Experience of WiFi and/or IT networks.
