Some exciting new opportunities have become available in our Family and Community Services division. This Mental Health initiative is funded by DHHS in partnership with the Australian Government through the National Partnership agreement (NPA) on Supporting National Mental Health Reform. The objective of the NPA is to deliver improved health, social, economic, and housing outcomes for people with severe and persistent mental illness.
Mental Health Care Coordinators provide people with Mental Health needs support as identified through their strengths based assessment. Intervention will be delivered through ongoing person centred planning to assist people with Mental Health needs to access the services they need to improve and maintain their quality of life. These positions require comprehensive assessment, planning and interpersonal skills and experience. The Care Coordinators will work in conjunction with the Senior Practitioner, Mental Health to ensure the delivery of evidence based mental health practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive contemporary attitude to people with mental illness, a creative approach to the design of goals and skill development programs, and skills in actively engaging with people who are reluctant to use support services.
Applicants must possess a relevant tertiary qualification in the social welfare related field (min. Certificate IV Mental Health) and experience working in sector. Part time (0.6 EFT) and casual positions are based in Glenorchy, providing support in the southern region of Tasmania. Casual pool positions are also available in Launceston and Devonport.
