Professional family seeking a qualified trained au pair to look after the care and tutoring of three children (8 years, 12 years and 14 years - eldest currently studying overseas). The position will be a 45 hour week
Essential will be accredited qualifications for working in childcare and qualified teacher status. Optional: First Aid (can be obtained prior to arrival) Full driver’s license. Languages: Essential First language English. Minimum 3 years’ experience as aupair 2 years teaching experience preferably as a qualified teacher
Duties will include care, guidance and management of the children. Exceptionally organised and efficient, Thorough and meticulous planning and highly effective time management, Proactive role i.e. Helps manage personal belongings bedrooms, play areas, school work as well as family, personal and leisure time (not domestic duties), Manages the children’s health, safety and hygiene, Manages education (including teacher) communications with school, progress reporting and assessment Personal Specification, Inspires confidence and welcomes challenges - Positive attitudes to new situations, Impeccable manners and etiquette shared with the children - Confident, respectful, discrete, demure, Manages all matters, including emergencies and unexpected events, calmly, Solution orientated, Well educated and well informed and able to engage in purposeful conversation on most subjects, Culturally aware and able to manage intercultural differences with patience and sensitivity, Welcomes feedback and accepts appropriate direction and instructions
Routines: Every evening prepare the children for school ensuring responsibility for their bags, books, equipment and food are ready as required, School collection daily, Ensure appropriate scheduling of tutors lessons, extra-curricular activities, leisure activities and play School and Education duties, Liaison with the children’s school in all matters, Maintains full progress reports including school and day to day diary, Represents the family as required in all parent / teacher (Friends of the School) events and activities, Pro-actively seeks out, coordinates and manages attendance for additional learning opportunities such as concerts, theatre, museums, exhibitions and similar events, Outline Draft Family Calendar Children’s including travel, camps, family holidays
Financial: Manage petty cash as provided from time to time, Pay for goods and services as required by the family, Maintain full record of financial matters, including keeping original receipts and written summary, Travel -Ensure all travel arrangements for children are ready including first aid, clothing etc.
