AutoCAD Design Draughtsperson Fire Engineering Services Position

Relevant required skills and experience pertaining to the job: National Diploma or equivalent, MDOP Certificate – N4 & N5, Minimum 2 years’ experience working on Revit MEP up to latest versio, Minimum 5 years’ experience in draughting of fire systems and  services (Automatic Sprinklers and Fire water reticulation), ASIB (rule book and full ASIB competency or in process to obtain it), IFE qualification/s, Design and draught AutoCAD and Revit drawings for fire engineering services to standards such as but not limited to SANS 10287, ASIB, NFPA, BS AND SANS 10400, Experience with Microsoft office and excel Your busy and challenging days duties will include the following, however not limited to: Work with a team of engineers on multi-disciplinary engineering projects, Design and draught AutoCAD and Revit drawings for fire engineering services to standards such as but not limited to SANS 10287, ASIB, NFPA, BS AND SANS 10400, Design Fire protection systems for projects, perform full hydraulic calculations and have on-site coordination responsibilities to ensure a successful outcome for our customers and the company, Co-ordinate engineering services, Manipulate/translate various digital file formats in order to create useable AutoCAD drawings and Revit models, Work with client FTP sites to download AutoCAD drawings and Revit models together with project deliverable uploads, Create detailed tender and construction drawings through the extensive use of software tools such as AutoCAD, SprinkCAD, AutoSprink and Revit, Work closely with Internal Project Manager(s) and Lead Revit/AutoCAD specialist(s) to review and meet project goals, Assist in Revit model development, Acquire models and information from suppliers and ensure the 3D components comply with the technical engineering specifications, Obtain information of a more general nature from suppliers and perform introductory engineering tasks such as equipment selections, Through the use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems responsibilities, Actively keep abreast of current trends in AutoCAD/Revit developments.

Perform occasional site visits, surveys and investigations for accurate, economical installation of fire protection systems, Occasionally attend site and co-ordination meetings, Provide training as and when required to other staff members, Comply with Clients project delivery processes, Self-motivated, Attention to detail and ability to filter through information, Ability to work independently and in a team, Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, Understanding of fire installation/s and design principles, Ability to do design an automatic sprinkler systems in compliance with ASIB rules and SANS 10287 Ability to perform FM designs for transformers and conveyor protection; Ability to perform NFPA designs for transformers, generators, conveyors, foam systems and above ground tank protection, Be able to perform full hydraulic calculations for the fire protection systems (including pump performance specifications and water tank capacities), Be able to compile fire system equipment quantities for tender purposes, Understanding of basic drawing setup, modeling techniques and general knowledge of draughting standards, Ability to quickly absorb and utilise company-specific techniques, standards and procedures

Excellent CAD as well as Revit draughting skills: Experience with Microsoft office and excel, Excellent oral and written communication skills essential for team-based working, Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment, Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges, Must have good follow through and self-implemented Quality Control measures, Proficiency in Navisworks a plus, Committed to delivering excellent levels of service.
