Full Time Position: This is a great opportunity to contribute to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector by providing support to Aboriginal community members and their families, in accessing primary health care services, as well as enabling best practice care to be delivered by GPs and other health professionals.

The Male Aboriginal Health Worker position will work with community health staff to provide culturally appropriate programs and support. The roles aim to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to access the services and programs at Aboriginal Health Service, DDACL and the broader community.

To be successful in this role, you will possess: Relevant qualification and experience or a preparedness to undertake a CERT III Aboriginal Health Worker Training, Demonstrated ability to work with with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Good knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, society and kinship networks and issues affecting the health and wellbeing of the Local Aboriginal Community, Knowledge of DDACL services and programs, Knowledge of mainstream Health and Community Services, Ability to communicate respectfully with staff and clients, Ability to work independently, as part of a team and across an organization, Ability to operate a computer email. A current Victorian Driver’s license and Working with Children’s Check. Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, Adopt and apply OH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. A police check will be required.
