Catering Sales Consultant

Job Description:
Tulips and Maple is Ottawa's premiere off-site catering company, serving the Nation's Capital since 1991.  Our expertise is full service, off-premise catering with high quality food, creative and compelling menus and superior service standards.
Tulips and Maple is currently recruiting for an experienced Sales Consultant who can orchestrate an extraordinary customer experience, drive sales results in a competitive environment and build relationships at all levels.
Responsibilities: 
    Proactively solicit new and repeat business using appropriate selling techniques in a professional manner
    Respond  to client inquiries in a compelling and memorable way with enthusiasm and confidence
    Build and track results of personal sales plan, status of inquiries, outstanding and prospective events as well as provide timely data for sales meetings and sales reporting
    Build and maintain strong business relationships with clients, meeting and event planners, vendors and venue partners, local networking organizations and internal teams
    Consult with clients in a genuine, inspired and creative way; delivering expert advice, exciting ideas and unmatched client service
    Write compelling proposals leveraging everything Tulips and Maple has to offer
    Completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion including written proposals, kitchen production files, on-site files and client contracts; monitors and collects payments and monitors deposit schedules
    Participate in all company meetings and event debriefs sharing feedback and observed trends
    Develop and maintain knowledge of market and industry trends scanning competitive environment for product, menu and business development opportunities
    Conduct client meetings, consultations, site visits and pre/post event briefings with required personnel
    Communicate and work with assigned Event Coordinator to provide quality service to our clients ensuring all information gathered and details of the event are collected, documented and coordinated properly ensuring for a seamless execution of scheduled events
    Full knowledge of T&M menu’s, products, services and methods
    Support all company marketing efforts; represent Tulips and Maple at industry and community functions
    Communicate and demonstrate the company vision, core purpose and values to colleagues, partners, clients and service team; drive a positive company culture and work environment
Requirements:
    Minimum 3 to 5 years of sales experience; hospitality preferred
    Demonstrated competencies in a sales and results driven environment; maximizing client satisfaction, ensuring top quality performance and profitable revenue generation
    Ability to sell 'an experience' and generate interest in all aspects of special event management; ability to close business and ‘ask for the sale
    Previous experience in catering and event management
    Strong written and verbal communication skills (Bilingualism preferred)
    Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task effectively; exceptional time management skills
    Valid Driver’s license; access to own vehicle required
    Strong work ethic; available to work evenings and weekends
    Proficient in the use of computers with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Experience using Caterease an asset
    Outstanding client and customer service skills
    Possess a positive attitude and maintains enthusiasm while working within a team environment; friendly and outgoing with a ‘can-do’ attitude
    Food savvy with knowledge off menu preparation, techniques and trends and food culture overall
    Above all, a passion for excellence
