Description: Coinciding with the 40th-year anniversary of the Dream Festival, Dia Art Foundation is presenting a newly acquired, site-specific iteration of Dream House at 545 West 22nd Street in New York City. This work will incorporate a site-specific sound-and-light installation including La Monte Young’s sine- wave sound environment, Marian Zazeela’s sculptures and light design, and Jung Hee Choi’s installation Ahata Anahata, Manifest Unmanifest IX. A program of concerts and performances will accompany the exhibition.

Dia: Chelsea seeks a Senior Gallery Attendant to work Tuesday through Friday from 6 pm to 12:30 am, and Saturdays from 4 pm to 12:30 am. Position will be needed from mid-June through October, 2015. Additional flexibility is necessary for special events and covering shifts as needed. The Senior Gallery Attendant is responsible for providing a positive, professional, and safe environment for visitors and the sound-and-light installation. This position requires teamwork and collaboration, and knowledge of the Dream House, as well as the history, sites, and mission of Dia Art Foundation. The Senior Gallery Attendant enforces rules and regulations as necessary to assist visitors and protect the artwork. This position will also be responsible for supervising and managing other Gallery Attendants at the Dream House and for ensuring that the installation is fully staffed during open hours.

Responsibilities for this temporary position include:

• Closing the exhibition nightly.

• Turning off electronic sound equipment and light environment.

• Ensure that all technical equipment is running properly.

• Monitor visitor interactions; assist and guide the public.

• Monitor all safety regulations and demonstrate ability to assist in case of an emergency.

• Assist with special events and programming as needed.

• Communicate effectively about the Dream House.

• Communicate effectively about Dia's mission, sites, and history.

Qualifications:

• College level credits or degree in an arts field preferred.

• Superb customer service skills and experience working with the public required.

• Knowledge of Dia Art Foundation's mission, sites, and history preferred.

• Must have the ability to work independently.

• Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking around gallery space.

Hourly rate: $20
