Maintenance Manager (Edmonton, AB)
Canada Bread is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Manager who is looking to take the next step in their career. This fast paced and exciting role is based out of our Edmonton plant. The maintenance department is comprised of approximately 30 employees in a unionized manufacturing environment.
This role requires a confident leader and communicator who takes pride and initiative to develop, coach and lead their team. Your main objective will be to address our bakery's equipment and process challenges and successfully raise each employee's level of knowledge and skills so that they can quickly install, troubleshoot and adjust or repair existing and new (including PLC) equipment being introduced in the plant. Promotion of employee safety and ensuring overall compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act are also a key part of this role. One of your objectives will be to ensure WCB injury cases are managed effectively and ensure early and safe return of workers.
This role is fundamental to the efficient operation of plant equipment and services, including cost control, safety, and product quality. The successful candidate will be called on to provide recommendations for continuous improvement of resources (staff, equipment, inventory), processes and efficiencies against standard. A background within Six Sigma is an asset to this role.
The key position outcomes are as follows:
Maintain an effective preventative maintenance program
Reduce/eliminate mechanical downtime
Utilize equipment, supplies and personnel to maximize maintenance effectiveness
Achieve budget plans
Ensure security of building & premises
The right candidate for this position will have a Interprovincial Trade TQ or technical degree in an electrical discipline (Red Seal) with 3-5 years experience in managing a maintenance team preferrably within a food manufacturing environment. You must have good computer skills in MS Office and working knowledge and experience with Minitab or other statistical software, Kronos, AS400 and SAP. You are able to work under pressure within a deadline driven and fast paced environment.
