The Opportunity: We’re looking for a passionate and self-motivated Junior Web Developer with some experience in PHP and ideally HTML, CSS, Javascript, Git and Linux. The successful candidate may be a recent college graduate or a computer science major looking for a co-op (minimum 2nd year), or a self-taught guru! You will report to our Senior Web Developer at our downtown Toronto office. Your most important asset should be your problem-solving ability, specifically how you approach and work through a problem or complex task assigned to you.
In this role, you will:  Write clean and beautiful code in HTML, CSS, Java script and PHP that is scalable and mobile-friendly for our front-end ecommerce website.
 Help analyse and fix bugs or operational issues.  Work with our Senior Web Developer on new front-end and back-end projects using Laravel and AngularJS.  Support our marketing team and co-founders with technical and minor design/editing tasks.  Support our customer acquisition team in building & testing various landing pages, Mailchimp campaigns, etc.  Assist with the management of our hosting environment (AWS).
Must haves:  Experience building websites using PHP. A strong passion for web development or software engineering with a focus on ecommerce. The ability to adapt quickly and work through problems in a high-growth business environment. High attention to detail and creative problem-solving ability.
Nice-to-haves: Knowledge of Git and version control, and experience with agile software development. Basic knowledge of SEO, SEM & Digital Marketing. Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony or Zend. Experience with JS frameworks such as Backbone, jQuery or AngularJS.
 Experience with front-end/CSS frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap or ZURB Foundation. Knowledge of package management tools such as Bower and Composer. Experience with build tools like Gulp or Grunt and their use with SASS or LESS. Cloud hosting infrastructure knowledge (AWS and others). InDesign & Photoshop skills are a huge asset.
