David Babcock & Associates (DBA) is a 15 year old architecture, landscape architecture, and planning firm specializing in commercial, retail, office, and industrial projects. Our office is located in Lafayette, CA, and is conveniently located within a short walking distance from the BART station.
DBA is growing and seeks to fill a Job Captain position. The ideal candidate is a motivated self‐starter that can take direction from a project manager; assist with projects in a collaborative environment; provide support to the design and development of projects through all phases of the architecture process; work on multiple projects concurrently; utilize highly developed problem solving skills to provide creative design solutions; and demonstrate the proven ability to prepare a quality set of construction documents.
Key Success Factors:
The ideal candidate must fulfill three criteria:
1) Experienced in the preparation of working drawings for large scale complex projects;
2) Capable of assisting project managers with client contact and consultant coordination;
3) Able to work well with others in a team environment.
Experience
Able to prepare a complete set of construction documents; Thorough knowledge of the California building code and building permit process; Develop details from design drawings; Assist with the resolution of design coordination during construction document preparation and administration phases; Incorporate LEED and sustainable design practices into projects; Assist design team to ensure project schedule and budgets are maintained; Ensure that all phases of project development conform to the quality control and office standards of the firm.
Client Interface
Communicate with client representatives; Provide progress reviews and updates to schedule in tracking project delivery to client; Assist with client presentations.
Business Development
Support and contribute to the marketing and business development efforts of the firm.
Teamwork and Leadership
Provide technical support and project communication to all team members; Attend on‐site visits and client meetings; Participate in team meetings; Track electronic project data and files.
Required Skills
5 to 7 years of experience in the practice of architecture; Possess advanced skill level using AutoCAD 2014; Possess basic hand and drafting skills; Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Power Point; Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Google Sketchup; Proficiency in Revit is a plus.
