Safety Officer Required - Road Construction, Pinetown, West Suburbs. The Site Safety Officer is responsible, in terms of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations to ensure compliance with; the Health & Safety Specification, the Health & Safety Plan on site.

Key Responsibilities/Key Performance Areas: Keep up to date with all amendments to the OHS Act and Construction regulations pertaining to Health & Safety. Regularly check the main safety file at Head Office. Check the competence and recommend training for safety officers deployed on; sites, plant division, Head Office. Check that all appointments are up to date. Check that all required inspections and administration are compliant. In consultation with the Company Health & Safety Officer, undertake adhoc inspections of the work areas at least once per month.

Start Up: Ensure Company Health & Safety Officer has prepared a Health & Safety Plan. Ensure all appointments have been made. Ensure notification of Department of Labour. Ensure Health & Safety File is in office Construction Phase. Oversee the Health & Safety Clerk and ensure compliance. Visit the site 2-3 times a week (varies as required). Check Health & Safety file. Check Risk Assessments.

Skills / Aptitude SHEMTRAC: hazardous substances experience the ability to work both on your own and as part of a team construction experience plant experience flammable experience the ability to work both on your own and as part of a team be able to deal with varying characters on site who may not have the same environmental and psychological approach to safety issues by being polite, assertive and tenacious.

In addition, the candidates should have the following key competencies: Honesty and integrity. Time management. Problem solving ability. Have good communication skills. Personal drive and ambition to ensure that output meets and exceeds the set quality standards and achieve this by remaining within budget. Be passionate about safety and implementing a balance between safety,cost and production.
